Waiting list

When the time a hirer wants is taken, they can ask to be told if it comes free: on the Book screen in their app, “Wanted a time that is taken?”. They choose the date and times, and see it under Waiting list on their Bookings screen, where they can take themselves off.

When a booking is cancelled — by the hirer, by you, or a book-and-pay hold nobody paid for — the first person waiting for that time is emailed straight away, and told on their phone if they have notifications on, with a link to ask for it. Only one person at a time is told about a time, so nobody races on the strength of the same email.

If they have not asked for it within a day (less when the date is close: half the time left, at least two hours), the next person is told. Asking for it, as an enquiry or by booking and paying, takes them off the list. Entries for dates that have passed are cleared.

The Waiting list screen, under Bookings, shows who is waiting for what, and lets you take somebody off.

For example: The Hendersons want Saturday 14 March, 2pm-6pm, but it is taken, so they join the waiting list. On 1 March that party is cancelled. Within a minute Mrs Henderson has an email and a notification: the time is free, and she is first. She asks for it that evening.

Questions people ask

Does joining the list hold the time?
No. It only means they are told first when it is free. They still ask for it, and you still confirm it.
