Opening hours and closures
Opening hours are the hours the hall can be hired at all, set per day of the week. They are what stops somebody asking for a booking that runs past the time the building has to be locked.
When a hirer picks a start time, HallPro only offers durations that finish by closing time. It does not warn them afterwards — the impossible options are simply not there.
Closures are the exceptions: a bank holiday, a polling day, a week when the floor is being re-sealed. A closure can be the whole hall or one room, all day or part of it.
For example: Ashcombe opens 09:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, 09:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays. On 7 May the Main Hall is a polling station from 07:00 to 22:00 — that is a closure on one room for one day, and the Committee Room carries on as normal.
Questions people ask
We have not set any hours. What happens?
HallPro assumes 08:00 to 23:00, every day. That is deliberately generous, so an unconfigured hall turns nothing away by accident. Set your real hours and it will start protecting them.
Does a closure cancel bookings already in the diary?
No. It only stops new ones being made. Anything already booked stays, and is yours to move or cancel — HallPro will not quietly un-book somebody.
Can we still take a booking outside the hours, just this once?
Yes, from this side. The Bookings screen lets a committee member override; the hirers’ app does not. That split is on purpose — the exception should be a decision somebody made, not one a hirer helped themselves to.
