🌐 Online Services

Pavilion runs on your own website. Only two optional extras make it contact another website by itself, and each stays off until a club admin ticks it.

Where to switch them

  • Settings → Club Identity → Online services
  • or the 🌐 Online Services step of the setup wizard

Bowls news on the dashboard

Fetches headlines from the news sites you choose under 📡 Sources (Bowls England, World Bowls, BBC Sport and others). Pavilion asks those sites for their public news feed; nothing about your club or your members is sent. Headlines are kept for a few hours so the sites are not asked on every page view.

Postcode and map lookups

  • Adding a member — the Auto-fill from postcode button sends the postcode you typed to postcodes.io and OpenStreetMap (or to getAddress.io if you have added a key under Integrations) and shows the matching addresses.
  • Club location for the weather — the Search button sends the place name you typed to OpenStreetMap to find its map position.

Only what you type is sent, and only when you press the button. With lookups off, type the address by hand, and set the club location with My location (your browser works it out) or by typing the latitude and longitude.

The Get updates card

If a site administrator presses Subscribe on the Get updates card, the name and email typed there, this site’s address and the Pavilion version are sent to ModuleFest so the newsletter can be sent. Nothing is sent without that button and the consent box ticked. See Get Updates and About ModuleFest.

What is never sent anywhere

QR codes — membership cards, check-in codes, booking passes, equipment labels and newsletter codes — are drawn by Pavilion itself and saved in its own uploads folder (wp-content/uploads/pavilion/qr). No membership number or check-in link leaves your site to make them.

Links that open another site

Some buttons are plain links that open another website in the visitor’s browser when they choose to: Get directions (Google Maps, with the club address) and Use Google Calendar? Add it there instead (with the booking’s time and place) on booking emails, Verify on map beside the club location, and WhatsApp links where you have set them up. Pavilion itself sends nothing; the visitor’s browser carries only what is shown in the link, and only when it is clicked.
