🧠Somebody joins part way through the season
What happens when a new member signs up in October rather than April — online or added by hand.
1They choose a membership
On the join page, or on Add Member if the secretary is entering them.

2Pavilion works out the fee
From the rules set for that membership type and the date they are joining. The same sum either way — the join page and Add Member ask the same question of the same place.

A line beneath the figure, in whichever way your club charges.
By months → “6 months left of the season, so 6 twelfths of the £120 annual fee.” | By days → “184 days left of the season out of 365, so that share of the £120 annual fee.” | A set price → “Joining between 1 August and 30 September, which your club charges £85 for.” |

4Nobody takes the number on trust
Whichever way it was worked out, the reason is written next to it — so a member questioning their fee, or a secretary checking one, can see the sum rather than being asked to believe it.

5Charge something else if you have agreed to
On Add Member the figure is editable. Type your own and it will not be overwritten; the note then tells you what the rules would have given, so the difference is on purpose.

6They pay
Online joiners pay as part of signing up. A member added by hand is invoiced like anybody else — the fee lands on their account.

7Their renewal date is set
The club’s next renewal date for most memberships. Where the fee covered next season too, the date is set a year further on, so they are not asked again in the spring.
💡 Tip: Where the club charges by whole months, the month they join counts in full — somebody joining on 28 January pays three twelfths, not two. If that feels rough on a large subscription, switch the club to days under Settings then Fees; if your committee has simply agreed a price for joining late in the season, set a joining window instead and Pavilion will quote exactly what you advertised.
