Open Sales products

An Open Sales product has no fixed price and no stock. When it is tapped on the till, the till asks for a description and an amount, and whatever is typed is what the receipt, the invoice and the Z report show.

Why a product, and not just Open item?

The till’s own Open item tile is for the odd one-off. An Open Sales product does the same job but keeps the sales together: they are reported under that product in Shop reports, so “Second-hand”, “Raffle” or “Donations” add up in one place, with a category and a photo on the till like any other product.

What it never does

It is never shown in the online shop, never counted in a stock take, and cannot be sold without an amount.

1 Add a product Shop → Add product. Give it a name like “Miscellaneous” and a category.
2 Tick Open Sales Under Stock and selling. The price and stock boxes disappear, because the till asks each time.
3 Sell it Tap its tile on the till, type the description and the amount, Add to basket.
4 Report on it Shop reports → Sales by product totals it; Open items lists every description typed.

FAQ

The tile says “type an amount” instead of a price.
That is how you know it is an Open Sales product.

Can customers buy it in the app?
No. It is for the till only.
