Raise an invoice from a finished job, from an accepted quote, or from scratch. It gets the next number (INV-0001, INV-0002…), which never changes. Email it and the customer can view and print it online. Mark it paid when the money arrives.

For example: Job done Tuesday, £85. Press “Invoice this job”, check the line, press “Save and email”. Due in 14 days unless you change the payment terms in Settings.

Les questions qu’on nous pose

I made a mistake on a sent invoice.
Raise a credit note against it for the wrong amount (or all of it), then a new invoice if needed. A credit note keeps your records straight for your accountant and VAT. If the invoice was never sent you can still just change it.

The customer paid a deposit or part of it.
Use “Record payment” on the invoice and change the amount. The invoice shows each payment and the balance left, and is marked paid once payments cover it.

How does CIS work here?
On the customer’s record, choose the CIS rate the contractor deducts (20%, 30%, or gross payment). Their invoices get a Labour tick box on each line; the deduction is worked out on labour only and shown on the invoice, with the balance they should pay you. Add your UTR under Settings → Quotes & invoices.
