A UK company Built and supported in the United Kingdom Help in UK hours Hosted sites kept in London

How your hosted website works

When you choose Set it all up for me, your website runs on the ModuleFest network: a managed WordPress service on Amazon Web Services (AWS Lightsail) in London. Your site is one of a group of business websites sharing a secure, well-looked-after server, rather than a server of your own. Its address is yourname.modulefest.uk, the name you picked when you ordered.

We look after:

  • WordPress itself: updates to WordPress, your ModuleFest plugin and its Pro add-on, and your website design are installed for you.
  • Security: a firewall, sign-in protection and malware scanning run across the whole network, and the connection to your site is always secure (https).
  • Email: your website’s emails, such as booking confirmations, reminders and invoices, go out through Amazon’s email service under your business name, so they reach inboxes rather than spam.
  • Backups: daily, kept for 7 days. If something goes wrong we can bring your site back without affecting anyone else.
  • Plugins: we choose, test and keep up to date the plugins available on the network. See Plugins on your hosted website.

You look after:

  • your pages, text, photos and menus;
  • your business’s settings in your ModuleFest plugin: services, prices, opening hours and so on;
  • who on your team can sign in to the site.

What’s different from a website you host yourself:

  • You can’t upload plugins or themes yourself. Every site shares the same server, so one faulty or unsafe plugin could affect everybody. Instead we offer a tested set, and you can ask for a plugin.
  • There’s no access to the server, its files or its database. If you need something that would normally need that access, raise a ticket and we’ll do it for you.
