🎲 Roll-up draw

The Roll-up draw makes the teams for a club roll-up from the members who have actually turned up, and puts them on rinks that are free. Open it from the 🎲 Roll-up draw button on the steward screen.

On the day

1. Choose the time. A roll-up set up under Bookings → Roll-ups for today is offered as a button; otherwise type the start and finish times.
2. Choose the game: pairs, triples or fours.
3. Tap members in as they arrive. Search by name if the list is long. The list on the right shows who is in, in the order they arrived. Tap a name again, or the ✕, to take them out.
4. Press Draw. If the numbers do not divide exactly, Pavilion asks how to deal with the players left over: one rink plays a smaller game, some teams have an extra player, or the last to arrive sit this one out.
5. Check the draw. To swap two players, tap one and then the other. Press Draw again for a fresh draw.
6. Confirm. The draw then shows on the clubhouse TV and on the rink sheet (printed or PDF), and can be printed on its own from the draw window.

How the teams are made

• Experience is mixed, using the Experience on each member’s record, so every team has a spread of newer and more experienced bowlers and the two teams on each rink are evenly matched.
• Partners are varied: people who played together at the last three roll-ups are kept apart where possible. If there is no other way, the draw says so.
• Positions: in each team the most experienced bowler skips and the newest leads.
• Only free rinks are used: not a rink that is closed, booked, hired out or kept for a match, and nothing at all when the green is closed. Rinks set aside for a scheduled roll-up are used first.

Common questions

Two members must always play together (a carer and the member they help). Can the draw do that?

Yes. In the draw window press ⛓ Keep two together, then tap the two names. They are linked from then on and always put in the same team. Do the same again to unlink them.

Where does the draw show on the clubhouse TV?

Above today’s bookings, while the roll-up is on. If you would rather it had a panel of its own, add the Roll-up Draw panel under TV Display.

I confirmed the wrong draw. How do I change it?

Open the draw window again: today’s confirmed draws are listed at the top. Press Remove, then tap the players in and draw again.

What if a member has no experience recorded?

They are treated as in the middle, between an improver and an experienced bowler. Set Experience on the member’s record for a fairer mix.
