Pavilion is supplied through ModuleFest. Linking your site to it gives the site three things: updates, the licence check, and a connection to support. An unlinked site keeps working — it simply receives no updates and cannot check a licence.

Who links the site

• On Basic (free), nobody but you. Pavilion Basic sends nothing to ModuleFest until somebody who manages Pavilion presses Link this site. Until then you will see an offer to link at the top of Pavilion’s own screens — never on the rest of WordPress. Not now hides it for you for thirty days; another administrator still sees it.
• On Standard and Premium, the site links itself on the first Pavilion admin page, as it always has. You have chosen a package that works through ModuleFest by installing it. If that attempt fails — usually a host blocking outgoing connections — the same offer appears with the reason, so you are never left wondering why updates have stopped.

Exactly what is sent

The site’s address and name, and the name and email address of the person who linked it, as the contact. The offer and the Support screen show you the actual values before you press anything, and the automatic link on the paid packages sends exactly the same four things — both go through the same code.

What is never sent

Anything about your members, bookings, rota, money or anyone else in the club. Once linked, the licence and update checks send the site’s address, the Pavilion version and the list of features installed — nothing else.

Undoing it

Help → Support & Updates → Unlink this site. Pavilion forgets its link and stops contacting ModuleFest altogether: no updates, and no licence check. A paid licence that cannot be checked pauses the paid features after a fortnight (nothing is deleted), so only unlink if that is what you want. A site unlinked on purpose is never relinked by itself, even on a paid package; press Link now on the same screen when you want it back. To have ModuleFest remove its record of the site as well, ask support.

Common questions

Why does my free site ask before linking when it used to link by itself?

Because linking sends your site’s address and a person’s name and email to ModuleFest, and a free plugin should not do that without somebody choosing to. From 10.61.0 Basic asks; Standard and Premium, which only work through ModuleFest, still link by themselves.

The offer says linking failed. What do I do?

The reason is shown in the offer and on the Support screen. Most often the web host blocks outgoing connections: ask them to allow support.modulefest.com. On Standard and Premium, Pavilion tries again by itself at most every five minutes; you can also press Link this site.

Whose name goes to ModuleFest?

Whoever links the site — their name and email are the contact. On a paid package that links itself, it is the first person who manages Pavilion to open one of its screens. You can see exactly whose it will be on the Support screen before linking.

I unlinked by mistake.

Press Link now on Help → Support & Updates. Everything comes straight back, and the licence is checked at once.
