Upgrading to a bigger plan

Upgrading takes two steps, and the second is the one clubs miss. The licence tells Pavilion what the club is entitled to; the features themselves still have to be downloaded, because they are not on the site yet. A Basic install does not hold the Standard code with the lights off — it does not hold it at all.

1. Buy the plan

Plans and payment are on the ModuleFest store — there is a button through to it on Pavilion → Tools → Licensing, and the upsell banners inside Pavilion link to the same place. Payment is taken there, not on the club’s own website.

Your confirmation email carries the plan’s own download as well as the licence key. Save the zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload and install it over the top — your data and settings are untouched.

2. Install the new package

Your confirmation email carries the plan’s own download as well as the licence key. Save the zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file, and when WordPress notices that a plugin of that name is already installed, tell it to replace the current one with the upload.

Nothing the club has entered is affected. Members, bookings, the rota, the accounts, the till history and every setting live in the database, not in the plugin folder; the new package is the same Pavilion with more of it. There is nothing to export first and nothing to put back afterwards.

3. Fetch the licence

Go back to Pavilion → Tools → Licensing. If the club shows as licensed already, press Re-check now and you are finished. If not, press Fetch my licence, which pulls the key from the club’s account without any typing — or paste the key from the confirmation email into the box and press Activate. “Current plan” at the top should now name the plan you bought, and the padlocks will have gone.

How you can tell a step was missed

If the licence is bigger than the package installed, Pavilion says so plainly rather than failing quietly: a banner appears across the Pavilion screens, the Licensing screen marks those features “Not in this package”, and the padlocked screen itself says your subscription already covers it. That is always step 2 outstanding.

Common questions

Should we delete the old plugin first?
No — and please do not. Deleting a plugin from the WordPress Plugins screen runs its uninstall routine, and Pavilion’s removes the club’s tables: members, bookings, the lot. Upload the new zip over the top instead. That replaces the files and leaves the database completely alone.
Will the club be offline while we do it?
For a few seconds, while WordPress swaps the files over — the same as any other plugin update. Do it at a quiet time if you would rather, but there is nothing to migrate afterwards and no one to warn.
We bought the plan but the padlocks are still there.
The download has not been installed yet. Look for the banner saying your subscription covers more than the package on this site; the zip is in your confirmation email, and step 2 above is the whole of it.
Can we move back down a plan later?
Yes — the Licensing screen has a Manage your plan button that opens the ModuleFest store, where you can change plan, update the card or cancel. Whatever you change there reaches this site by itself.
We run Pavilion on two sites. Does one licence cover both?
A licence has a number of seats and each site takes one, which the Licensing screen shows as “Seats: 1 / 2” alongside this site’s address. If you have run out, Deactivate on this site frees the seat on a site you no longer use.
