SumUp card payments

Pavilion can take card payments through SumUp using your club’s own SumUp account, in three ways:

Online — a member pays by card on a SumUp-hosted checkout page (for subs, events, hire and bookings), and Pavilion records the payment automatically once it’s confirmed.
In person — take a payment on a paired SumUp Solo card reader from the Payments screen (e.g. at the subs desk).
Recurring — a member can save a card so subscriptions can be charged automatically.

Setting it up

Go to Payments and open the SumUp card. Paste your API key and merchant code (from your SumUp profile / developer portal), add an affiliate key if you’ll use a reader, then Save Keys and click Use SumUp to make it your active provider. Keep Test Mode on until you’ve run a sandbox payment end-to-end, then switch to Live.

Pairing a reader

On the Solo, open Settings → About and log out to show a pairing code, then enter that code in the Card reader box on the SumUp card and pair. Once paired you can take a payment on the reader for any member and amount straight from the Payments screen.

Common questions

Do I need a SumUp account?: Yes — Pavilion connects to your club’s own SumUp account using its API key and merchant code, so money goes straight to you. SumUp’s usual transaction fees apply.
Do I have to test first?: Please do. Keep Test Mode on and run a payment through SumUp’s sandbox for each method you’ll use (online, reader, recurring) before switching to Live, so you know it works end-to-end for your account.
Can I still use Stripe or GoCardless?: Yes — you choose one active online provider on the Payments screen. SumUp sits alongside Stripe, GoCardless and PayPal; switch whenever you like.
Which plan includes SumUp?: It’s part of the Complete plan, within the treasurer & accounts suite.
