The day diary on the steward tablet

Bookings & Arrivals opens on a diary of the day: every rink across the top, every session down the side, and every box drawn — including the empty ones.

That last part is the point of it. The old list showed a card per booking, which answers “who is on?” but not “has the green got room at three?”, because a rink with nothing on it had no card at all. A steward being asked whether four people can come down at half past two now has the answer in front of them rather than working it out.

Each box shows one of:

• A booking — who booked it, how many are coming, how many have arrived, and every named player with a tick box beside them. Tapping the tick marks that player as arrived, exactly as it did on the list, and the Arrived and Expected figures at the top move with it.
• FREE — nothing on that rink for that session.
• A roll-up, a home friendly, a league or competition fixture, or a closure — in its own colour. These come from the same place the members’ booking grid reads, so the two screens agree.

The session running now is highlighted and tagged NOW, so the current row is findable at a glance from across the room. The time column stays put while the rinks scroll sideways on a narrow tablet.

The old card list is still there — the Diary / List switch is in the section heading, and the tablet remembers which one was last used.

Common questions

Can I take a booking from this screen?

Yes — press any rink showing as free and the booking wizard opens with the rink, the session and the day already chosen. This is where a booking is most often actually taken, with somebody standing at the desk asking for a rink.

A booking is showing in amber inside a match.

That is a rink given to a match which somebody is also booked on. It is shown in the cell rather than in a list underneath, because those are exactly the people about to walk out and find a county match on their rink.

What is Also booked today for, then?

A booking that fits no session at all — somebody who booked a flexible 15:20. Genuine clashes now appear on the grid itself.

A booking is not in the grid, it is underneath in "Also booked today".

It does not line up with any session. A member who booked a flexible time of 15:20 to 17:20 has no row to sit in, so rather than being dropped — which would hide somebody who is coming down — it is listed below the diary with its own times, and its arrival ticks work the same way.

The diary is empty but there are bookings.

The diary needs rinks and sessions set up to have a shape at all. If either is missing it falls back to the list view rather than showing an empty frame. Set your sessions up under Bookings → Sessions and it will appear.

A session is missing from the side.

Sessions carry the days of the week they run on, so a Saturday-only competition slot correctly does not appear on a Tuesday. Check the session under Bookings → Sessions if you expected it.

It says the club is closed.

The day is one of your closed days under Settings → Booking Rules. Untick it there if that is wrong.

Can I print the diary?

Not the grid itself yet. Tapping the Bookings figure at the top gives the same day as a table with a Print button, which is what most clubs pin up.

It is hard to read on a small screen.

Below about 700 pixels the boxes narrow and the grid scrolls sideways with the time column pinned. On a phone the List view is usually the easier of the two, and the tablet will remember that choice.
