⚙️ Till settings

Everything that makes the till fit your club. The setup wizard walks through all of it in six steps; this screen is where you change any of it afterwards.

The decisions worth thinking about

• How many tills — most clubs need one. A second only makes sense where a second drawer is counted separately.
• VAT — leave it off unless the club is genuinely VAT registered. Ask your treasurer rather than guessing. When on, prices are VAT-inclusive and the VAT element is extracted from the total, not added on top.
• Member pricing — only worth switching on if you actually charge members less.
• On account — lets a sale become a charge on a member’s statement, settled like any other.
• Refuse a sale when stock has run out — off by default, and usually best left that way for a busy bar.
• How the buttons are arranged — custom order, A to Z, or grouped by category. Sets what a till starts with; whoever is serving can switch on the tablet.
• Barcode scanning — on by default, and harmless with no scanner attached. The camera option is off by default and only appears where the browser can actually do it.
• Staff PIN — strongly recommended. The tablet stays logged in all day; the PIN is what stops a passer-by using it.
• Posting to the accounts — writes the takings into the club ledger at cash-up, so the treasurer is not keying the same numbers in twice.

Common questions

I changed a setting but the tablet has not noticed.

Tap “Refresh prices” on the till, which reloads the settings along with the price list.

Should we post takings to the accounts?

If your club uses Pavilion’s accounts, yes — it removes a re-keying step and a source of error. Ask your treasurer which income category to use so it lands where they expect.

One line per category, or a single total?

A single total keeps the ledger tidy. One line per category gives the treasurer bar, kitchen and shop separately, at the cost of more entries. Either is easily changed later.

How do I remove the PIN?

Tick “Remove the PIN entirely” and save. Leaving the PIN box blank keeps the existing one rather than clearing it.
