The Matches tab records all friendly matches — home and away — including scheduling, results, squad, rink allocations, dress code and surface type.

Result convention

Pavilion displays results opposition-first, matching the standard bowls scorecard format. For example, 1–4 WIN means the opposition won 1 rink and your club won 4 rinks.

Match fields

Opponent — name of the opposing club
Venue — Home or Away
Date & Start time — shown on the Dashboard “Next Match” card
Rinks — number of rinks in play
Surface — Grass or Indoor carpet
Dress code — shown as a reminder on the next match card
Status — Scheduled, Completed, Cancelled, Postponed
Result — updates the season record chart on the Dashboard

Common questions

How do I set how games are scored (ends, first-to-shots or sets)?: Match formats are a reusable library. When adding or editing a competition, click Manage… next to Match format to create formats — a fixed number of ends, first to a number of shots, or sets play — each with an optional tiebreak (extra end, 3-end tiebreaker or sudden-death). Then pick a format for any competition or league; it appears on their header. For leagues the match format is separate from the league-table points, so both apply together.
Why is the result shown opposition-first?: This follows the standard bowls scoreboard and programme convention used across UK bowls clubs — away score on the left, home score on the right.
Where does the next match appear?: The next scheduled match is shown on the Dashboard as a preview card showing date, opponent, venue, start time and dress code.
How is the season win rate calculated?: Win rate = Wins ÷ (Wins + Draws + Losses) × 100. Only completed matches with a recorded result are included.
Does it matter which screen I pick the squad on?: No. The Squad button on the Matches tab and the Squad Selection tab are two views of the same team sheet — pick on either and the other shows it, so Notify Squad, the two-day reminder and the scorecard all see the same players.
Can I name the teams before the match is played?: Yes. Naming who is on each rink leaves the match Scheduled and does not record a result. A result is only recorded once you enter the shots for at least one rink, so a team sheet filled in on the Wednesday will not put a 0–0 on the noticeboard.
I pressed Notify Squad and it said nobody was notified.: Everybody in the squad has already been told. Notify only writes to players who have not had the email yet, so adding one player and pressing it again reaches that player and nobody else. Use the “tell them again” option if you genuinely need to re-send to the whole squad — for example if the time has changed.
Why can’t I put two players in the same position on a rink?: Because the selection grid has one slot per position, so the second player would silently replace the first on screen while still being counted and still being emailed. Move the first player somewhere else, then place the second.
Does a reserve get told they are playing?: No. A player marked Reserve is asked to keep the date free and is not given a rink or a position. Only selected players are told they are playing.
