Starring the pages you use

Pavilion has a lot of screens and most people who help run a club use about five of them. The treasurer wants the ledger and the bank reconciliation; the fixtures secretary wants the match calendar; the steward wants the till. Favourites are a shortcut past everything else.

Favourites are yours alone. Two officers sharing a computer but signing in separately keep their own lists, and nothing you star appears for anybody else.

Common questions

Can I print a list of members for the noticeboard?

Print member list on the members toolbar. Landscape, three sets of columns across the page, small type — around a hundred and twenty members on one sheet rather than six nobody staples together. Surname, first name, a letter for the membership type and the member number, in alphabetical order by surname.

What are the letters in the T column?

The membership type, shortened. They come from your own type names rather than a fixed list, and where two begin with the same letter the second gets two — so Social reads S and Sports reads SP rather than both saying S and telling the reader nothing. There is a key at the foot of the sheet.

I only want the full members.

Choose the type at the top and print. The type column disappears when you do, since every line would say the same thing.

What is the number beside App invitations?

How many members have an account they have never signed in to. Everybody imported from a spreadsheet has a login and a password nobody knows, including the club — the button opens the screen that sends them each a one-time link to choose their own. No number means nobody is waiting.

Does it remember which tab I was on?

Yes. In Pavilion a tab is usually a whole screen rather than a slice of one, so Reports → Bowlers & Rink Usage stars separately from Reports itself. What it deliberately does not keep is anything else from the address — a favourite pointing at last March’s figures, or at one member’s record, is not a favourite anybody wants a week later.

There is no star on this page.

The star only appears on Pavilion’s own screens. WordPress pages, and anything outside Pavilion, cannot be starred.

How many can I keep?

Thirty. Past that the oldest drops off to make room, rather than the new one being refused — somebody at the limit is starring a page they want now, and being told no by a list they cannot see would be a poor answer.

A favourite goes somewhere that no longer exists.

That can happen if a club changes plan and a screen is no longer included. Press the × beside it in the list to clear it out.

The panel will not move up or down.

Fixed in 9.99.248. Being in the dashboard’s ordered list was not enough on its own — a section only becomes movable when it carries the arrows and the markup the dashboard looks for, and this panel had neither. It now moves like any other section.

I hid the panel on the dashboard and it came straight back.

Fixed in 10.48.0. Pressing the × did save it as hidden — it even appeared in the Hidden bar at the foot of the dashboard — but the panel was drawn anyway, so it sat on the dashboard and in the hidden list at the same time. Hiding used to be applied by each section for itself and this one had been missed; it is applied once to every section now. Update to 10.48.0 or later, and press the × beside the arrows on the panel header.

How do I get the panel back after hiding it?

Scroll to the foot of the dashboard. Everything you have hidden is listed there under Hidden — press ↩ Your favourite pages and it returns to its place in your order. What you hide is yours alone; other officers still see their own panel.

Can I share my list with the rest of the committee?

Not at the moment — each person keeps their own. That is deliberate: the whole point is that one officer’s five pages are not another’s.
