📅 Events & Social Calendar

The Events page — Members → 🎉 Events & Socials in the navigation bar — manages club events and socials: quiz nights, BBQs, coaching, AGMs and committee meetings, with optional sign-up, capacity limits and member/guest pricing. The admin dashboard’s 📅 Upcoming Events card shows the next few events (each admin picks how many via its ⚙, normally 3) with a link through to this page. The ⚡ Bulk generate panel on the page creates a whole series at once — weekly, fortnightly, or a monthly pattern such as the first Tuesday of each month — with a preview of every date before anything is created.

Month calendar

The Events page shows a month-grid calendar of everything happening at the club: your events and socials plus scheduled friendly matches, colour-coded by type (social, bowling, matches, AGM/committee, coaching). Use Prev / Today / Next to move between months, and click an item to open it.

For members

The same calendar appears at the top of the members’ Events page in the portal, followed by the upcoming-events list with sign-up buttons. Logged-out visitors only see events marked public. You can also place the calendar on any page with the [pvl_events_calendar] shortcode (add matches="0" to hide matches).

Common questions

How do I add a social event?

Events → Add Event. Give it a title, date, time and type (e.g. Social), set prices and capacity if it needs sign-up, and tick “public” if non-members should see it.

Can I limit who sees an event?

Yes — each event has “Visible to” ticks for Members, Volunteers and Admins (any mixture). Members only see events ticked for their group in the portal calendar and list; for example untick Members to run a volunteers-only briefing, or untick both Members and Volunteers for a committee-only item. Admins always see every event regardless of the ticks. “Show on public website” separately controls logged-out visitors. The TV display and steward dashboard show events visible to members or volunteers; the admin dashboard shows all events.

Why is a match showing on the events calendar?

The calendar combines club events with scheduled friendly matches so everyone can see the whole month at a glance. Cancelled events and non-scheduled matches are not shown.
