📈 Google Analytics

Google Analytics tells you how many people visit your club website, which pages they look at, whether they are on a phone or computer, and more — all in your own free Google Analytics account. Pavilion adds the tracking to your site for you; you never have to edit your theme or paste code into pages.

Turning it on

Go to Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics, paste your Measurement ID (it starts with G-), tick Turn on tracking and Save. The step-by-step panel there walks you through creating a free Google Analytics account and finding the ID. For the full walkthrough see the “Setting up Google Analytics” scenario.

Keeping the figures honest

Leave Don’t count club officials ticked. This stops your own committee’s day-to-day admin work from being counted as visits, so the numbers reflect real members and visitors.

Nothing shared until you opt in

No data leaves your site unless tracking is switched on with a valid Measurement ID. Turn it off at any time and the tracking is removed immediately.

Common questions

Where do I find my Measurement ID?
In Google Analytics, go to Admin → Data streams, open your website’s stream, and copy the Measurement ID — it looks like G-XXXXXXXX. Paste it into Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics.
Does this cost anything?
No. Google Analytics is free for the volume a bowls club website sees, and Pavilion’s side is included.
Why don’t I see my own visits?
By default club officials aren’t counted, so your admin visits won’t show. Test in a private/incognito window (logged out) and watch the Realtime report, or untick “Don’t count club officials” temporarily.
Where does the data appear?
In your Google Analytics account, not in Pavilion. Realtime views show visits within seconds; the main reports fill in over a few hours to a day.
Is it GDPR-friendly?
You should mention analytics in your website’s privacy/cookie notice, as you would for any analytics tool. Pavilion only loads the tag when you enable it, and never counts logged-in officials by default.
