🗂️ Virtual Folders
Virtual Folders let you organise your media into a logical folder structure. They are an organisational layer inside Media Library Manager — they do not create real folders on your server or change file paths.
Creating folders: Go to Tools → Virtual Folders, type a name and click + Create.
Assigning files: Select files in the Unlinked Media Files list, then use the 📂 Move to Folder dropdown in the action bar.
Renaming: Click the ✏️ icon, type the new name, and press Enter. Press Escape to cancel.
Questions people ask
Can I delete a folder that has files in it?
No. Remove all files from a folder before deleting it. This prevents accidentally losing your organisational structure.
Do virtual folders affect file paths on the server?
No. Folders are display-only inside Media Library Manager. Physical file paths and WordPress attachment records are not changed.
How do I remove a file from a folder?
Select the file in the Unlinked Media Files list, open the Move to Folder dropdown, and choose “✕ Remove from folder” at the bottom.
Can I move files between folders?
Yes. Select the files, open Move to Folder, and pick the new folder. The files are moved immediately.
