📝 Files with Notes

Files with Notes shows every media file that has a private note attached. Notes are visible only inside Media Library Manager — they do not appear on your site’s front end or in the standard WordPress Media Library.

Use notes to record context: why a file exists, who to consult before deleting it, or any information your team needs to know.

Notes can be added from the Media Usage Map panel in the Media Library, or by clicking a file row in the Unlinked Media Files list.

Export all files with notes as a CSV for offline review or client handover.

Questions people ask

Are notes preserved if I deactivate Media Library Manager?
Notes are stored as WordPress post meta. They persist in the database even when the plugin is deactivated and reappear when it is reactivated.

Can multiple team members see notes?
Yes. Notes are stored in the database and visible to any WordPress user with access to Media Library Manager (requires manage_options capability).

Is there a character limit on notes?
No hard limit is enforced by Media Library Manager. Keep notes concise for readability.
