Quiet times and off-peak prices

Quiet times (under Rooms & prices) shows how much of the opening hours each room was booked over the last twelve weeks: a table of the days of the week against morning (to 12:00), afternoon (to 17:00) and evening, each with the share booked. The paler a square, the quieter. On the Premium plan.

Underneath, the times that were booked less than 15% of the time, grouped the way rate rules are (weekday or weekend, morning, afternoon or evening), are offered at an off-peak price: the room’s hourly rate less 25%, to the nearest half. Change the price if you like and press Offer this price. It becomes an ordinary rate rule, for any hirer, and applies to bookings made from then on. Where a rate rule for those times already exists, it is shown instead.

Change how far back to look, what counts as quiet and the discount in Settings at the bottom. Only confirmed, invoiced and paid bookings are counted, against the opening hours; closures are not taken off.

For example: The Committee Room is booked 4% of weekday mornings. Quiet times suggests 6 an hour instead of 8. The committee offers it, puts a line in the parish magazine, and by the spring a knitting group and a physiotherapist have taken two mornings a week.

Questions people ask

Will it change what regular hirers pay?
Only if their bookings fall in the off-peak times and the off-peak price is lower than what they pay now: rate rules take the narrowest that fits. Check the Rate Rules screen after adding one, and remove it there if it is not what you meant.

Why does a busy time show as quiet?
Enquiries that were never confirmed do not count, and nor does anything outside the opening hours. Check the opening hours are right for that room’s hall.
