Discount code on a booking

When a customer quotes a code while you are booking them in, type it in the Discount code box — on the New booking wizard’s last step, or on the booking itself. It is checked straight away against that booking: whether the code exists and is still running, whether it has uses left, any minimum spend, whether it covers the treatments booked, and — for a loyalty reward — whether it belongs to this customer. The booking shows what it will take off.

Taken off the invoice, not the booking

The booking’s price does not change. The code comes off the invoice when the booking is billed — whichever way that happens: the booking’s own Create invoice button, Finish up, the customer’s invoice for all their completed visits, or Ready to invoice. It is applied before the invoice is emailed, so the customer’s copy already shows it, and it is counted as used at that point, not before.

Customers can add one when they book

The customer app’s booking has a Voucher or discount code box on its last step, Check and confirm. The code is checked when they send the request, against the treatments they chose, and the message they see says whether it was added and how much it takes off — or why it could not be used. A code that does not work never stops the booking; the booking records the refusal so you can see it.

If it cannot be used by then

A code can run out between booking and billing — somebody else used the last one, or it expired. The invoice is then raised at the full price, and the booking says why the code was not used, so you can decide what to do.

Example

A customer rings to book a groom and mentions SPRING20 from the flyer. You add it on the last step of the wizard; the booking shows £9 off. After the groom, Finish up raises the invoice with the £9 already taken off.

FAQ

Why did the price on the booking not go down?
Because the code is spent on the invoice, which is what the customer pays and where usage limits are counted. The booking shows how much it will take off. For a one-off reduction of your own, use the booking’s discount instead.

I typed a code and it said it was not added.
The message gives the reason — not recognised, expired, used up, spend too low, not for these treatments, or somebody else’s reward. If the booking already had a code, that one is kept.

Can two bookings on the same invoice each have a code?
An invoice takes one code. The first one is applied; the other booking says it was not used, and why.

Does it copy to every visit in a repeat?
No. It goes on the first visit only — a single-use code copied to six visits would be refused on five invoices.

Can I add one to a group walk?
No, because each owner is invoiced separately. Add it to that owner’s invoice instead.

Can customers type a code in the app?
Yes, on the last step of booking. It is checked and added exactly as if you had typed it on the booking, and they are told straight away if it cannot be used.

The booking is already invoiced.
Then the code belongs on the invoice. The booking links to it.
