⚡ Rensningsregler
Cleanup Rules let you define conditions that Media Library Manager evaluates automatically on a schedule you choose. Files matching a rule’s conditions have the rule’s action applied without manual effort.
Conditions available: MIME type, file size, upload age, days unlinked, tag, filename contains.
Actions available: Move to Recycle Bin, Backup then move to Recycle Bin, Permanently delete.
Tick “Email me when this rule fires” on any rule to receive a notification. The notification email template is fully customisable in Settings & Stats → Notify tab.
Always click Preview before saving a new rule to see exactly which files would be affected.
🕒 Choosing when rules run
The Schedule box at the top of the Cleanup Rules card sets when your rules run:
- Every hour — at the minute you pick (:00, :15, :30 or :45 past each hour).
- Twice a day — at the time you pick and again 12 hours later (for example 03:00 and 15:00).
- Every day — at the time you pick. This is the default, at 03:00.
- Every week — on the day and at the time you pick.
- Paused — your rules are kept but do not run until you choose a schedule again.
Times are your site’s own time (Settings → General → Timezone), shown beside the time. Click Save schedule; the card then shows when the rules will next run, and when they last ran. Each rule’s Enabled tick still decides whether that rule takes part.
WordPress runs scheduled jobs when someone visits the site, so on a quiet site a run can start a little after the chosen time.
Frågor folk ställer
When do rules run?
On the schedule you set in the Schedule box on the Cleanup Rules card: every hour, twice a day, every day or every week, at the time you choose (every day at 03:00 unless you change it). The card shows the next run. The Auto-Scan Schedule in Settings is a separate job and does not change when rules run.
Can I stop the rules running for a while?
Yes. Choose Paused in the Schedule box and click Save schedule. Your rules are kept; choose a schedule again to start them.
Why did a run start a few minutes late?
WordPress starts scheduled jobs when someone visits the site. On a quiet site the run starts with the first visit after the chosen time. If your host offers a real (server) cron for WordPress, runs happen on time.
What if a file matches multiple rules?
Rules are evaluated in order. The first matching rule’s action is applied and subsequent rules are skipped for that file.
Can I test a rule without affecting files?
Yes — use the Preview button. It shows which files currently match without taking any action.
Can I disable a rule without deleting it?
Yes — toggle the On/Off switch on each rule. Disabled rules are saved but not evaluated during the daily cron.
Can I customise the notification email a rule sends?
Yes. Go to Settings & Stats → Notify tab → Cleanup Rule Notification Email. Edit the subject and body using {{tokens}} like {{rule_name}}, {{file_title}}, and {{action}}.
