Who can use the till

The owner and managers can always use the till. Everybody else on the team can too, unless you switch it off for them on the Team page, so nothing changes until you choose to.

Signing in to the till tablet

A person who has not been given the till cannot open it, on a laptop or on the tablet: the full-screen till tells them so and offers to sign out.

One tablet, several people: PINs

Give each person a till PIN (4 to 6 digits) on the Team page, then on the till open ⚙ Till settings and tick Lock the till. The till then opens on Who is on the till?: each person taps their name and types their PIN. The receipt, the Z report and the till sessions show who really served, not whoever the tablet is signed in as. It locks again after the number of quiet minutes you choose, or when someone presses Lock.

Five wrong PINs in a row stops that person for five minutes. PINs are stored scrambled, like passwords, so nobody can read them back — set a new one if it is forgotten.

1 Choose who has the till Team → each person’s card → Till: tick or untick Can use the till.
2 Give PINs In the same box, type a 4 to 6 digit PIN and Save. Avoid 1234 and 1111: the till refuses them.
3 Lock the till Settings → Till tab → Lock the till, and set the minutes before it locks itself. (Also on the till, under ⚙ Till settings.)
4 Or do it all in one place Settings → Till has who can use the till, everyone’s PIN, the lock, selling at zero stock and the receipt defaults on one screen.

FAQ

I ticked Lock the till but it does not ask for a PIN.
Nobody has a PIN yet. The lock only comes on once at least one person has one, so you cannot lock yourself out.

Can a team member change the till settings?
Only the owner or a manager can change the settings for the whole business. With the lock on, that means the person who unlocked it must be a manager.
