The Alt Text Generator scans your media library for images missing alt text and suggests suitable values — entirely from data already in WordPress, with no external API or cost.

Suggestion sources (in order of preference):

1. EXIF caption, title, description, keywords
2. WordPress caption, description, media title
3. Parent post title + filename
4. URL slug / cleaned-up filename

Up to 3 suggestions are shown per image. Click a suggestion to populate the text field, edit it if needed, and save individually or in bulk.

Does this use an external AI service?
No. All suggestions come from metadata already in your WordPress database and image EXIF data. No external calls are made and there is no cost.

Will saving alt text affect my live site immediately?
Yes. Alt text is stored as WordPress post meta and used immediately by wp_get_attachment_image() and Gutenberg image blocks.

What is good alt text?
Good alt text describes the image concisely (under 125 characters), does not start with “Image of”, and conveys the purpose of the image in context. For purely decorative images, leave alt text empty.

Can I bulk-save all suggestions at once?
Yes — after reviewing, click Save All to apply the current text field value for every image in the list.
