Skills & cover — Skills & cover

Build a library of skills (e.g. Makaton, Team Teach, PMLD) and organise them into skill groups, which can be nested many levels deep. Staff are assigned to skills, never to groups.

Use the Skills matrix to tick skills against every staff member from one grid and set each person’s primary skill, saving once. The Find cover tab ranks available staff to cover an absent teacher: anyone holding the absent teacher’s primary skill is floated to the top, then others by how many skills they share. Pick the day and it lists the exact sessions to cover; Assign as cover hands that day’s sessions to your choice (see Arrange cover). It ranks on skills only — check who is actually free separately.
