What your trial can and cannot do

A free trial is a complete working system for the one service you chose — nothing inside that service is cut down. A small number of things are held back, and it is worth saying why, because none of it is to nudge you into subscribing.

A trial site is deleted after 14 days and shares our mail server with every other trial. Both facts make a few features genuinely unsafe to allow:

• Real card payments — the money would be real, the records would be deleted. Stripe test keys work normally.
• Sending newsletters to a list — one send to an unverified list would get the domain blocked as spam, stopping every other trial’s email arriving. Test sends to yourself work.
• Connecting your accounts software — demo invoices could land in your real books, and the connection would be orphaned when the site goes.
• Text messages — they cost money per message and go to real phones. Reminders still send by email.
• Export — nothing transfers to a paid account, so an export would imply a migration route that does not exist. Importing your clients in still works.
• Analytics — a fortnight of demo bookings tells you nothing worth reading.

Example

You build a newsletter, send yourself a test and it looks right — then find the audience send is blocked. The notice on the screen explains that trials share a mail server, and that the send opens up as soon as you subscribe.

FAQ

Is the rest of the system limited?
No. Within your chosen service everything works — bookings, clients, pets, invoicing, reminders, the staff app and the customer portal are all the real thing.

Can I take a real deposit just once, to test it?
Not with live keys. Use Stripe test keys to walk the whole flow through, or mark a payment as received by hand exactly as you would for cash.

Will these open up if I subscribe?
Yes, all of them. Note you would be setting up a fresh system, as nothing transfers from a trial.
