Shop sales
What the shop took, over any period you choose. Four quick ranges for the questions people actually ask — this month, last month, this year, the last ninety days — or type two dates.
Margin, where you have costs
If you have entered a cost on a product, the report shows what it cost you and what you kept. Products with no cost entered show a dash rather than a margin. That is deliberate: a margin worked out against a cost of zero is not a hundred per cent profit, it is a question nobody answered, and printing it as profit is how a business talks itself into believing it.
Refunds are already in it
A refunded sale reduces both the units and the takings, because the report is built from the same movements the stock level is. There is no separate refunds figure to reconcile.
Build your own
The report builder can see the shop as well. Under Reports pick Shop sales & stock and every movement is there to group and filter: date, product, client, what happened, units and value. That covers the questions this page does not — takings by month, what one client has bought, which products get written off, how often a stock take finds a difference.
Units out and Value both count a return as a subtraction, so they always divide to the right price. Deliveries show as negative units out, because a delivery is stock coming in.
On the dashboard
Today’s and this month’s takings, and how many products are running low, sit on the Figures tab of the staff app — with a line underneath naming your best seller and what to reorder. They appear only for a business that has a shop.
Example
A groomer checks last month, sees ninety pounds of shampoo went out at a forty pound margin, and orders another case rather than guessing.
FAQ
Why does a product show no margin?
No cost has been entered on it. Open the product and put the cost in, and it will show from then on.
Does it include things put on an invoice rather than paid for?
Yes. The sale happened when the goods left the shelf; whether the money has arrived is a question for the invoice.
Are refunds taken off?
Yes, automatically. Both the report and the stock level are built from the same movements.
Cost figures changed after I sold something.
The report uses the cost on the product now, not the cost on the day. It is a guide to what to reorder, not a historical costing.
