Shop & till
Sell the things that sit beside the till — shampoo, leads, treats, clickers — and keep count of them properly. Premium, and for groomers and trainers.
Products
Each one has a price, an optional cost and code, and a switch for whether to count it. Turn counting off for anything you never run out of. Set a low-stock number and the till tells you when it drops to it.
Two ways to sell
Take payment is the till: the money came in now, and you record how. Put it on their invoice adds the lines to that customer’s open invoice — the same one their grooming is on, not a new invoice per bottle. Either way the stock comes off the shelf, because the shelf does not care how it was paid for.
Customers can order too
As soon as you have a product for sale, a Shop tab appears in the customer portal. They pick quantities and it is added to their invoice and put aside — the same invoice their grooming is on. Out-of-stock items are shown greyed rather than hidden, because “we sell that, but not today” is more use than the thing vanishing.
Stock is worked out, never stored
Every change is written down: a delivery, a sale, a refund, a count, a write-off. What is on the shelf is the sum of those. That means the number can always be explained — open a product and its recent movements are listed underneath — and it cannot quietly drift away from the truth the way a stored count does.
Example
A groomer finishes a full groom, the owner asks for the oatmeal shampoo they use, and it goes on the same invoice as the groom rather than being a separate transaction and a note on the back of a card.
FAQ
Can I sell to somebody who is not a client?
Yes — leave the customer as “nobody, just a sale”. You only need a customer if it is going on an invoice.
Something will not sell because it says out.
The count has reached zero. Book in a delivery on the product screen, or turn counting off for that product if it is not something you stock.
Why can I not just type the stock number in?
Because a number typed over the top hides what happened. Use Stock take: it records the difference and the reason, so next month you can see when the three went missing.
A customer returned something.
Refunding a sale puts the stock back with its own entry. The original sale stays on the record, because “sold then returned” and “never sold” are different facts.
Do walkers and sitters get this?
No. It is registered for groomers and trainers, who have a counter for it. If you run a walking business that does sell things, say so and it can be widened.
Can customers buy online?
Yes. If you have any products for sale, a Shop tab appears in the customer portal. They choose quantities and it goes on their invoice, put aside for their next visit — no card form and no delivery, because a groomer’s customer is coming back in three weeks anyway. Stock is checked again when they order, so a bottle sold over the counter in the meantime cannot be ordered twice.
