Your service edition
Pet Central comes as four separate plugins, one for each kind of pet business: Groomer, Walker, Sitter and Trainer. They are the same software underneath. What differs is which screens, fields and reminders you get — a groomer is never asked about off-lead consent, and a dog walker is never shown a table-hire rota.
Why not one plugin with tick-boxes
Because the tick-boxes were the first thing everybody met and the last thing anybody wanted to think about. Installing the edition that matches your trade means the plugin is already set up for the work you actually do, from the first screen onwards.
Nothing here is withheld from you
Every free feature for your service is in your edition, in full, for ever. The other editions are not a higher plan — they are a different trade. A groomer is not missing anything by not having the Classes screen; they are simply not a trainer.
Running a second service
You are on the full package, so this is already yours. Every trade is in this install; the Settings tick-boxes decide which ones you actually offer, and you can add or drop one at any time on the records you already have.
The four single-trade plugins are the free directory editions, for businesses that do one thing. If somebody running one of those grows into a second trade, they install that trade’s plugin alongside the first and the two run side by side on the same website, each keeping its own diary and client list. That changed in September 2026: a paid plan used to be supposed to switch the other trades on inside a directory edition, and that offer was withdrawn.
Changing which service you are
If you installed the wrong one, deactivate it and activate the right one. You will not lose anything. Your records belong to your website, not to the plugin folder — the new edition opens on the same clients, the same pets and the same diary, showing them through its own screens.
Example
A groomer who has started walking three regulars on Thursdays upgrades to Standard, ticks Walker alongside Groomer, and the walk fields, group-walk limits and GPS tracking appear on the same client records she has been using for two years.
FAQ
I installed the wrong edition. Have I lost my data?
No, and you would have to try quite hard to. Clients, pets, bookings, invoices and settings live in your website’s database, which no plugin folder touches when it is deactivated. Activate the edition you meant and everything is where you left it.
Can I install two editions to cover two services?
You do not need to — this package already has all four, and the Settings tick-boxes turn them on. The directory editions are a different matter: those are one trade each, and somebody on one of them adds a second trade by installing that trade’s plugin beside it. The two coexist properly and have done since 2.689.0.
Is my edition a cut-down version?
No. It has every free feature for your trade. The parts you do not have belong to other trades, not to a higher price.
Why does my Settings page have no service tick-boxes?
Because there is nothing to tick on a single-service edition — one box that cannot be unticked is a control in name only. They come back the moment your plan covers more than one service.
I have paid for Standard but still see one service.
The screen reads your plan when it loads, so the usual cause is that the licence arrived a moment after the page did. Reload it. If it persists, open Licensing and press the button to refresh from the hub.
Does my customer portal or staff app change?
Only in what it shows. Both follow the same service list as the admin screens, so owners and staff see the fields that apply to the work being done and none of the ones that do not.
