Finance reports

Finance → Reports is your income and costs over a period, grouped by month or week, with a running total.

Income counts invoices actually marked paid, not invoices raised — so it reflects money received rather than money hoped for. Expenses counts what you have recorded under Expenses.

Where you offer more than one service there is a service filter and an Income by service table, so you can see which part of the business is earning.

One thing to understand: filtering to a single service shows income and any costs you have tagged to that service, but not your shared costs — insurance, software, the van. Those belong to the whole business, so splitting them between services would be a guess dressed up as a figure. Treat a single-service total as a contribution, not a profit.

Example

A groomer-and-walker checks the year so far, sees grooming is two-thirds of income on half the hours, and puts the price of a group walk up.

FAQ

Why is my income lower than my invoices?
Only paid invoices count. Anything sent but unpaid appears under Outstanding instead, which is usually what you want to know separately.

Why can I not see profit for one service?
Shared costs cannot honestly be split between services. You get income and direct costs for that service; the full picture is on All services.

How do I tag a cost to a service?
On the expense itself, choose the service. Leave it as whole-business for anything that spans everything.
