How customers get into their account

Customers do not have a password. Each one has a private link that opens their account — bookings, invoices, pets and details. It is included in their invoice emails, and you can copy it any time from their client record.

If they lose it, they can get it themselves: send them to /pc-my-link/ on your site. They enter the email address you hold for them and it is emailed over. The page gives the same answer whichever address is typed, so it cannot be used to find out who your customers are.

If a link ends up with the wrong person, open the client record and use Regenerate link. A new link is issued and the old one stops working immediately — including any copy the customer saved. Remember to send them the new one.

Treat the link like a password: anyone holding it can see that account.

Example

A customer says her ex-partner still gets her invoice emails. You open her record, hit Regenerate link, and send her the new one — the old link is dead from that moment.

FAQ

Do customers need a username and password?
No. Their link is how they get in, which is why nothing has to be remembered or reset. There is also a Send login option on the client record if you would rather a particular customer had a proper account.

A customer has lost their link.
Either copy it from their client record and send it, or point them at /pc-my-link/ to have it emailed to them.

Can I stop an old link working?
Yes — Regenerate link on the client record. It takes effect straight away, so send the replacement on.

Could someone use the link page to find out who my customers are?
No. It reports the same thing whether or not the address is on file, and the same again if it is asked repeatedly.
