The pack & pickup order

When you open a group walk, the whole pack is listed at the top — every dog on the walk. Tap any dog to see that dog’s own pickup details: the address (tap it to open directions), the key safe, a phone number (tap to call) and any home notes. A group spans several homes, so each dog carries its own owner and address, not the booking’s. A dog with a temperament note shows a small ⚠ so you spot it before you set off.

Suggested pickup order. Tap Suggest pickup order and the app puts the dogs in nearest-first order so you collect them along a sensible route. It starts from your base postcode (set under Settings → Bookings & reminders), or tap From my location to start from wherever you are right now. Each owner’s postcode is looked up once and remembered, so it is quick next time.

The order is a suggestion — tap Reorder and use the ▲▼ arrows to set your own. A dog whose postcode can’t be placed on the map keeps a grey number and sits at the end; fix the postcode on the owner’s record and re-suggest.

Example

Before Monday’s 10am group, the walker taps Suggest pickup order. The four dogs reorder 1–4 nearest-first from the unit; she nudges one up because of a one-way street, then taps Start walk.

FAQ

Where do I set the base postcode?
Settings → Bookings & reminders → Group walk pickup order. It saves on its own and is checked there and then, so you know straight away if it resolved.

Nothing happens when I tap Suggest.
It needs a connection (the postcodes are looked up online) and either a base postcode or From my location. If no base postcode is set and you didn’t use your location, it tells you.

One dog has a grey number at the bottom.
That owner has no usable postcode, so the dog couldn’t be placed on the map. Add or correct the postcode on their client record, then re-suggest.

Is this a full route optimiser?
It orders the dogs nearest-first from your start point, which suits a tight local round. It doesn’t account for one-way systems or traffic — nudge the order by hand where you know better.

Does it cost anything?
No. Postcode lookups use a free public service, and each owner’s postcode is only looked up once and then remembered.
