Finish up, step by step
Finishing a visit is four small jobs, and Finish up now walks you through them one screen at a time rather than stacking them on one long sheet.
- Before & after — the photos the owner sees on the link in their message.
- Report & mark complete — how it went, and the save that marks the visit done and raises the invoice.
- Tell the owner — your canned replies, with the photo link already in them. Sent before the money, because “ready to collect” is what brings them to the counter.
- The money — the invoice that was raised two steps back, and taking payment when they arrive.
- Book the next one — when the pet is next due, and the diary around that date.
Skipping
Skip moves on without doing that step, and nothing is lost: a step you skip is still there on the booking afterwards, so photos can go on later and the message can be sent from the booking screen.
Step 2 is the exception. Marking the visit complete is what raises the invoice, so the wizard will not move past it until that is saved — everything after it is about a job the software does not yet think has happened.
Getting back
Back returns to the previous step with everything you typed still there; on step 1 it takes you back to the booking. The dots along the top show where you are; they are not buttons, so a half-finished report cannot be skipped out of by a stray thumb.
Example
A walker finishes a round in the rain, skips the photos, types two lines and marks it complete, leaves the £18 on the invoice, taps the canned “home safe” message, and books the next walk — five screens, no scrolling, one hand.
FAQ
I skipped the photos by accident.
Nothing is lost. Open the booking again and tap Finish up; the photo step is the first screen, and anything already saved is shown there. You can also send the message again afterwards.
Why won’t it let me past step 2?
The visit has not been marked complete yet, and that save is what raises the invoice. Tap Save & mark complete — the notes box can be empty if there is nothing to say.
I pressed Save & mark complete and the button just went grey.
It is waiting for the server. The button comes back on its own, and a line under it says what happened — a refusal with its code, a lost connection, or no answer within 25 seconds. If the save reached the server and only its reply went missing, the app notices: it re-reads the booking, and where the visit is already on the books as done the step simply completes and says so. If the line says your session has expired, close and reopen the app.
Can I jump straight to booking the next one?
Not from inside Finish up, because the diary offer is worked out from a finished visit. If the visit is already marked complete, Skip through the first steps — it takes two taps.
It says there is nothing to invoice.
That is a normal answer, not an error: the job is free, it was covered by a package or plan, or it has already been settled. There is nothing to do on that step — carry on. If the visit is worth something, the step says so and offers to bill it instead.
They are not paying today.
Tap Leave on invoice. The invoice stands and can be settled from the booking, or from Money, whenever they do pay.
Why is the money a step now?
It used to be a popup that appeared over the wizard the moment the report saved — a screen you had not asked for, arriving on top of the one you were working in. Same invoice, same two buttons, in the order the job actually happens.
