Salon shampoo comes as concentrate. Neat shampoo irritates skin; over-diluted means three washes and a groomer blaming the product.
The off-by-one
1:16 means one part concentrate to sixteen parts water — seventeen parts in total. So a 500ml bottle takes 500÷17, not 500÷16. That mistake is small, constant, and the reason a bottle never quite works out.

Does it matter that much?
At 1:32 the difference between right and wrong is about 15ml in a 500ml bottle. Over a year of daily mixing it is a lot of product.
